My father gave me a lot of sage advice much like the father in this song gives his daughter.  One of the things he told me that I have always kept close is, “Don’t ever forget where you came from.”  We had a deep bond and we held a special place in each other’s hearts. He named me Yvette after a Max Roach song and was such a “Be-Bopper” or Jazz enthusiast, so I naturally gravitated toward Jazz.  Dad, I miss and love you but know that you’re still watching over me. Thank you for all that you continue to be in my life.
